District Election Officer S Sundaravadivelou on Friday launched voters awareness programme in keeping with the directives of the Election Commission under "Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation".
Students volunteers from various educational institutions designated as ambassadors who would carry out door to door contact programme and distribute handbills and other materials to generate awareness among the voters were present.
Mr Sundaravadivelou said the union territory had recorded 86 percentage polling in the Assembly polls in 2011 while in the Lok Sabha poll in 2014 it was 84 percentage, a release said.
