Altogether 49 Assembly constituencies in the districts of West Midnapore, Burdwan, Bankura and Purulia will go to polls on April 4 and 11.

Kolkata: Two helicopters will be used by the Election Commission to monitor security arrangements during polling in the Maoist-affected Junglemahal area of West Bengal.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dibyendu Sarkar said arrangements for two helicopters have been made, which will be used as per requirements during the first phase of Assembly Elections.

For any medical emergency, provision for an air ambulance has also been made.

"If any polling or security personnel needs immediate medical attention and has to be evacuated from the spot then we will use the air ambulance," he said.

The poll body has also reserved some beds in government hospitals, for any emergency need of polling and security personnel, where they will get cashless treatment.

Altogether 49 Assembly constituencies in the districts of West Midnapore, Burdwan, Bankura and Purulia will go to polls on April 4 and 11 during the first phase.
