Bangalore:
In an interview to NDTV, Justice Shivraj Patil discusses the mammoth task before him - of determining whether the rules were followed by officials who granted telecom licences.
Justice Patil, who retired as a Supreme Court judge, has been given four weeks to complete his review.
Yesterday, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal announced that the judge will serve as a one-man committee in studying all spectrum allocation since 2001, when the BJP-led NDA was in power. He says "Neither the UPA nor NDA are relevant for me."
The Opposition has rejected the appointment as a desperate attempt by the government to stave off a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
