We Are Closely Monitoring Islamic State Related Activities: Kiren Rijiju

Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju said that India is closely monitoring the activities connected with Islamic State in the country.

New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance is closely monitoring the activities connected with Islamic State, and taking necessary action, after reports that the terror organization was trying to lure Indian youth.

"The matter is closely being watched by the concerned agencies. Whenever required, action will be taken," Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju told reporters.

When asked about the deportation of four Kerala youths from United Arab Emirates for their alleged links with the Islamic State (IS), Mr Rijiju said, "We will take action at an appropriate time."

Replying to a question on reports of a Delhi girl planning to join IS, the minister said, "We have taken note of it. The agencies have taken certain action and I believe those are right action."

On September 15, UAE deported four Indians suspected to have links with IS and it is expected to send back the same number of people soon.

About a fortnight ago, the UAE had sent back a 37-year- old woman, Afsha Jabeen alias Nicky Joseph, who was allegedly involving in recruiting youths for ISIS.

There are reports that suggested that father of a Delhi girl has approached the National Investigation Agency saying that his daughter was inclined to join the IS and suspected that she had been radicalised while studying in Australia.
