BJP chief Rajnath Singh speaks at a press conference in Delhi
New Delhi:
BJP will form governments in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, its chief Rajnath Singh said today.
"Let me make it clear that we will form governments in all the four states and we will have our chief ministers there," he told reporters in Delhi.
Mr Singh said BJP benefited from the popularity of
Narendra Modi, the party's Prime Ministerial candidate.
He parried questions on the vote percentage BJP got in the four states as "the final results are yet to be announced."
Maintaining that
Shivraj Singh Chouhan will once again head the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, Mr Singh said the party has nominated observers in the states that went to polls to oversee the election of the legislative party leaders.
While BJP has made a clean sweep in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, it is leading in Delhi and Chhattisgarh by a thin margin.
