We will probe ministers accused of wrongdoing: Akhilesh Yadav
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today denied that his government tried to shield Raja Bhaiya, who resigned as minister from his government on Tuesday after being accused of ordering the murder of a senior police officer in his constituency of Kunda.

Speaking to NDTV, Mr Yadav said, "When his name was taken in the FIR, we asked Raja Bhaiya to resign the very same day. He resigned and we didn't even take a second in accepting his resignation."

The 39-year-old's government completes its first anniversary on March 15, and Mr Yadav has been unable to fulfill one of his main campaign promises - to rid his home state of "goonda raj" or lawlessness. He said he's working on improving safety and security in the state, and will not ignore complaints against his affiliates.

"Whichever minister has been involved in wrongdoing, we will definitely order an enquiry, " he said.

Mr Haq, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), was killed on Saturday night when he arrived in a village in Kunda to investigate the murder of the village headman or pradhan and his brother, who had been killed over a land dispute.

Two of the four men suspected of killing him have yet to be found.  Raja Bhaiya has not been interrogated or questioned despite being charged with criminal conspiracy for the murder.
