Chandigarh: A website, justice4ruchika.com has been launched on Sunday, to create a platform for fighting the menace of child abuse in the memory of Ruchika Girhotra, who committed suicide after she was molested by former Haryana DGP S P S Rathore.
"The purpose of setting up the website is to create a platform where people's power will be used to fight the menace of child abuse," said Ruchika's close friend Aradhana who is also the sole eye-witness in the infamous 1990 molestation case.
"The overwhelming support and suggestions we have been getting over the past few weeks have inspired us to launch the website," Aradhana said.
"On the website, experienced lawyers will give advice and provide support to the victims and their associates. The website, will be an anti-child abuse forum with helplines connecting NGOs across the country," she said.
"Our mission is to make this world a safe place for our children. Our objective is to keep the memory of Ruchika alive. In future, we will set up an organisation that will be a vehicle for fighting the child abuse."
Last December, Rathore was convicted and sentenced to six-month jail term for molesting Ruchika, a budding tennis player, who committed suicide three years after the incident.
