Midnapore, West Bengal:
Hours after thirteen Maoists were killed in an encounter in West Bengal, joint forces have further intensified the crackdown on Naxals.
The CoBRA forces and West Bengal police are carrying out the anti-Maoist operations in the Salboni forests of the West Midnapore district of West Bengal.
The area, adjoining Lalgarh, is one of the hub of the Maoists.
Large quantities of ammunition including AK 47 rifles, SLRs and explosives were also found.
Meanwhile, two Maoists were arrested in Gaya in Bihar and the police have recovered a cache of arms and ammunitions from their hideout.
After receiving specific information about a Maoist training camp in Mohanpur in Gaya district, a special team of the security forces was sent there.
After a fierce gunfight that continued for two hours, security forces finally overpowered the rebels and destroyed three of their camps.
Besides these, in a major operation, the Jharkhand police killed top Maoist leaders over the weekend, who had gathered in Borhat jungle.
10 Maoists were killed in a joint operation by the police, CRPF and Special Task Force, but no bodies have been found so far.
Police ,however, found 300 kg of rice and fish, three solar panels, two generators for lighting claymore mines, 90 kg of liquid explosives and nearly 300 kg of ammonium nitrate.
