Kolkata: The West Bengal government today made it mandatory for all its employees to be present on September 2 when a nation-wide trade union strike has been called by central trade unions.

In view of the trade union strike all over the country on September 2, government offices, including those provided with grant-in-aid, would remain open and no leave would be granted on that day, a memo, issued by state Finance Department, said.

Moreover, the directive said that absence of employees on that date would be treated as 'dies non' and no salary would be admissible.
