Kolkata:
The West Bengal government will take steps to stop misuse of beacons and hooters on vehicles after Supreme Court's observation on the issue.
"We must stop misuse of red beacons and hooters by those who are not entitled to them. The Supreme Court also has a directive on the issue. We must follow it," Transport minister Madan Mitra said warning of strong steps against misuse.
"We have to identify those first who are entitled to use red beacons and hooters. Then we must prepare a list of those misusing them before taking a drive against them," Mr Mitra said.
Mr Mitra said that the government was also considering if VVIPs, who are entitled to red beacons, could use blue beacons instead.
