What next for Lalit Modi?
New Delhi: The third edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) may be over but the final match between the BCCI and beleaguered IPL chief has just got into the slog overs.

After the IPL final on Sunday where Chennai beat Mumbai, the BCCI emailed a 34-page chargesheet against Lalit Modi listing 22 charges of impropriety ranging from financial irregularities to rigging bids proxy holdings and kickbacks in broadcast deal.

Lalit Modi was suspended as the IPL Commissioner and issued a show-cause notice capping two weeks of raging controversy over financial wrong-doings in the hugely popular cricket tournament. (Read & watch: BCCI suspends Modi, slaps 22 charges)

The BCCI acted swiftly to suspend Modi, giving 15 days time to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him after he made a surprise announcement that he would participate and chair the meeting of the IPL's Governing Council on Monday morning.

A defiant Modi however refuses to go down without a fight. After the IPL final last night, he made a speech saying IPL has been a great success and that he is ready to  reply to all the charges. Possible next steps for Modi may include taking the BCCI to court. He may also now lobby for support among IPL team owners, most of whom have already voiced their support for Modi.
