Mumbai:
There's another fledgling star waiting to take flight in the Kapoor clan (not that one, the other one). While the world waits
for 19-year-old Jhanvi to make her debut (no details on which the first film will be), we asked her superstar mother Sridevi what she really thinks of her daughter's impending launch. Sridevi, who chooses her words with care, admitted to being somewhat on the edge about Jhanvi's career. "Very tensed, this industry has given me so much but it's tough. She has to work hard," Sridevi said on
NDTV Spotlight. Jhanvi is the elder of Sridevi's two daughters with producer Boney Kapoor.
Sridevi, who started out as a child actor, knows a thing or two about what it takes to navigate the intensely competitive and often unforgiving film industry. "Once we decided to be in this industry, we have to be ready for everything. You have to be strong but hard working. No pain no gain," she said. Earlier this week, Sridevi told
mid-day that while she was happy that Jhanvi is going to be an actress, she'd be happier still
if her daughter had picked marriage.
In photos posted on social media and websites, Jhanvi Kapoor carries her 19 years with a poise that would do an older woman credit.
She trends often - in fact, the Internet is more than a little obsessed with her - and her stylish outfits have been noted, discussed and admired online. Her mother also benefits from Jhanvi's fashion advice. "What I'm wearing is approved by her. She's a teenager - I go by her thoughts and it's fun. We're like friends, sharing each other,s thoughts and it's really fun to get ready. She is always there for me," Sridevi said on
NDTV Spotlight (watch the show on NDTV 24x7 and
