Bangalore:
A huge ration card scam has surfaced in Karnataka. Recent inquiry by the Lokayukta's office revealed that there are 40 lakh ghost ration cards in circulation in the state.
NDTV accessed the Lokayukta report that reveals that there are 1.2 crore families enlisted eligible for ration cards but actual ration cards in circulation are 1.6 crore.
It also states that 5.8 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) households have been excluded whereas nearly 60 lakh above poverty line households are enjoying BPL benefits.
