Alwar, Rajasthan: A 34-year-old government school teacher from Rajasthan was not anticipating any fame. But last night, his story featured in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech at London's Wembley Stadium, who said, "My India is in that Imran Khan from Alwar".
Mr Khan, who introduces himself as an app developer on his website, has no formal training in computers. His journey started with building a website for his school. He then started developing apps as a hobby after learning from his brother's engineering books.
Till date, Mr Khan has developed 52 educational apps which he has dedicated to the students for free. The most popular among them, the general science app in Hindi has over 500,000 downloads and 18 million screen views. But for the Sanskit teacher, money is not important.
Speaking to NDTV, Mr Khan said, "Everything in life is not for money, because the people who I have made these apps for, can't buy them."
Imran Khan has turned into an overnight celebrity but says that he plans to continue developing educational apps, especially in regional languages which can help more people.
To support in his endeavor, the state-run BSNL will now provide free internet to Imran Khan for developing his apps.
