Narendra Modi held a rally today in Jharkhand's capital, Ranchi, where the BJP's prime ministerial candidate wondered why, despite its enormous mineral resources, the state faces poverty.
Highlights of Mr Modi's speech:
- People of Jharkhand want to decide their own future
- They want to use their capabilities to improve conditions of their people
- But the central government didn't listen to them, ignored them
- Atal (Bihari Vajpayee) ji understood the feelings, needs and ambitions of the people of Jharkhand
- The dreams, vision that Atal ji had for Jharkhand need to be fulfilled
- Chhattisgarh developed and progressed while Jharkhand lagged behind
- Chhattisgarh gave BJP an opportunity to serve them
- Delhi's support is very important
- But today those who are sitting in Delhi rejected you and a vision for you
- How will you progress under them?
- The main reason for unemployment is that they are not worried about 'sushasan' (good governance)
- We led the PSUs on the route of professionalism in Gujarat
- Corruption, inflation isn't the concern of the Centre now, they only do 'akashvani'
- But 'akashvani' does not solve your issues
- Government in Delhi didn't work on any of the suggestions to curb inflation
- Now what is happening? Only 'akashvani'
- There is so much rain in Jharkhand but still there isn't enough water in this state
- Government cannot provide enough water for drinking and agriculture. What is their role?
- At one point in time, there were tankers that provided water, but now every tap has water in Gujarat
- These people who do 'akashvani' can do no good for the country
- Congress has become a burden for this country
- Congress is distant from the public, they are disconnected
- Their ministers cannot hear their own people
- We need to empower the youth of Jharkhand to avoid a brain drain
