Bhubaneswar:
A four-member Central panel is on a two-day visit to Orissa to probe if any forest laws have been violated at the proposed site for POSCO Steel plant near Paradeep Port.
This is the second Central panel after Ashish Kothari committee to have visited the area.
The earlier panel reported that the rights of tribals in the area had been ignored, something that led the Centre to stop land acquisition for POSCO until such claims were verified.
The new panel will complete its study today and submit a report to the Environment Ministry next week. The Prime Minister has also assured Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik that he will look into the case.
