New Delhi: Shashi Tharoor's tweet woes are far from over. Despite his tweeted apology for his remark on "cattle class" travel, his party, the Congress, has not ruled out action against the Minister of State for External Affairs for his comments on Twitter.

Tharoor's Officer on Special Duty (OSD), who had tweeted in response to the cattle class remarks to state that India's politicians are humourless, could also be in trouble.

Congress spokesman Manish Tiwari said the party would take appropriate action at the right time on the comments by Shashi Tharoor.

At around midnight, Tharoor had "tweeted" an apology to all those hurt by his "cattle class" remark.

Tweeting from Liberia, Tharoor's apology came a day after the Congress party publicly reprimanded him for stating that he would travel "cattle class in solidarity with all our holy cows" in a message posted on the social networking site Twitter.

Tharoor said the phrase 'cattle class' was used by a scribe and he had only repeated it.

"It's a silly expression but means no disrespect to economy class travellers, only to airlines for herding us in like cattle," said the minister.

But at an Iftaar party, fellow Congressman and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said "it was unfortunate and unbecoming on his (Tharoor's) part to make such comments".

"In my view he should tender his resignation as a minister," said Gehlot.

Gehlot said since Tharoor represented the government, his 'cattle class and holy cows' comments were unacceptable.
