In wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing 'Start up India, Stand up India' campaign, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today said her government will conduct meetings with bank officials to extend loan to the youths who wish to start their own business.
"Start-up India, Stand-up India announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a way forward to harness our youth's entrepreneurial prowess," Ms Patel said after unfurling the National Flag at Lunavada town of Mahisagar district, where the state-level Independence Day function was held.
"To take forward PM's appeal to banks, will conduct meeting with bank officials to extend loan to youth who wish to start their own business," Ms Patel said.
Mr Modi, from the ramparts of Red Fort today announced a new campaign 'Start-up India;Stand up India' to promote bank financing for start-ups and offer incentives to boost entrepreneurship and job creation.
Ms Patel also announced to set up four skill development centres at four places in the state.
"Skill is the key for our youth to empower themselves, soon four new skill centers based on PPP mode will be setup at four important locations in Gujarat," she said.
As part of clean and green initiative, the Chief Minister also announced to ban plastic in the state.
"Keeping in view protection of environment, cattle health and cleanliness, have declared plastic ban across Gujarat," she said.
Meanwhile, Patel said that she is proud that 159 towns and eight cities across the state now have 100 per cent in-house toilets and nearly eight lakh toilets have been built in rural areas.
"I thank everyone across Gujarat who have generously donated Rs 60 crore in Mukhyamantri Swachhta Nidhi (government of Gujarat scheme to build toilets) to support 'Toilet for all' mission," Ms Patel said.
"It was heartening to hear from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that nearly 4.25 lakh toilets have been built in 2.62 lakh schools across India within a year," she added. Gujarat's first woman Chief Minister also said her government is committed to welfare of widows in the state.
"The income limit for widow pension eligibility has been increased to Rs 47,000 in rural areas and Rs 68,000 in urban areas," she added.
Ms Patel said that Mahisagar and Dahod districts will get irrigated water from Kadana dam and Rs 850 crore will be spent to set up 100 km pipeline that will irrigate 12,000 hectares of land.
Meanwhile, reports of Independence Day being celebrated with fervour and gaiety were received from various district headquarters with minister's concerned unfurling the tricolour.
