New Delhi:
Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra today said he has received a death threat over the phone with the caller asking him to "shut" his mouth over the Jawaharlal Nehru University controversy.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader said he has taken up the issue with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Mr Mishra, a vocal critic of the Modi government over several issues including the ongoing JNU row, said that he received the call on his mobile just before 9 am. A person who identified himself as "Pujari" threatened him, he claimed.
As Mr Mishra got into an argument, the caller allegedly said, "Ab to tumhe pakka hi maar denge (Now I will surely kill you)."
"He threatened me saying that 'apni jubaan band rakho varna goli maar denge' (keep your mouth shut or else you will be shot). I told him that he should try and kill terrorists if he has so many bullets with him," Mr Mishra said.
Mr Mishra, who holds Tourism and Water portfolios in the AAP government, said that he would not be "cowed down by such elements" and will continue to raise his voice against divisive elements.
"However, I consider it essential to bring the aforesaid matter to your knowledge so that appropriate directions can be passed to the officers concerned for tracing the call and booking the culprits," the letter said.
The Aam Aadmi Party, including Mr Mishra and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has attacked the Central government over the JNU row, saying the government has failed to arrest students who raised anti-India slogans at an event in the university but they have arrested a union president who is a critic of the ruling BJP.

"Prior to this, there were missed calls on my cell phone from various similar numbers +442, +3844, +9100, +501 but as they were unknown numbers, I did not pick up the calls," Mr Mishra said in a letter to the Home Minister. My Letter to Home Minister
