Will this judge be kept out of Supreme Court?

New Delhi: The fate of Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court P D Dinakaran, whose name has been recommended for elevation to Supreme Court, depends on a meeting of the Supreme Court Collegium on Friday.

The Chennai Chapter of the Lawyers for Accountability Forum is submitting fresh evidence on the alleged illegal land acquisition by Justice P.D. Dhinakaran. It mentions the names of four fictitious companies floated to acquire land.

The evidence will be submitted to the Collegium at 4pm on Friday.

The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice India K G Balakrishnan, will meet on Friday evening to reconsider its decision recommending the elevation of Justice Dinakaran, who is facing allegations of corruption, to the top court.

The Collegium, which is under tremendous pressure from all quarters to recall its recommendations for appointment of Justice Dinakaran as Supreme Court judge, is most likely to review its earlier recommendation.

Besides, Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily is likely to meet top legal experts Fali Nariman and Soli Sorabjee today.
