Patna:
The Women's Bill has brought disruptions in the JD(U) out in the open.
The Bill got ahead in the Rajya Sabha but it could change political equations in Bihar and impact the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The fight to win Bihar in a few months from now is already gathering speed among the three biggest contenders, thanks to the Women's Reservation Bill.
The stakes are perhaps are the highest for Nitish Kumar, someone who's been projected for turning Bihar's fortunes around and someone who could do without a division within his party in an election year in Bihar.
But the Janta Dal (United) is divided with Nitish pitching for the Women's Bill and party president Sharad Yadav opposing it.
To fortify his campaign in Bihar, Nitish needs Sharad Yadav to stand by him.
"There is difference of opinion, but the party is not going to split," says the Chief Minister.
Lalu Yadav is Nitish Kumar s other big headache. His RJD was thrashed after the general elections but a series of victories in Assembly by-elections recently have bolstered his confidence.
Enough for Lalu to keep up his fight with the Congress and now Nitish Kumar over the Women's Reservation Bill.
He's demanding a quota for Muslim and backward women, all with an eye on the Bihar elections.
For the Congress, the Bihar election is a prestige issue, with Rahul Gandhi getting personally involved in the state, after Uttar Pradesh, in his bid to revive the party in the Hindi heartland.
Will Rahul Gandhi be able to do a UP in Bihar and resurrect his party?
The Congress has to battle its own demons, specially factionalism.
In an election year where the stakes are already high for everyone, the issue of women's reservation has further complicated the political pitch in Bihar.
The question now is, who can emerge of out the political turmoil with the least amount of bruises.
