New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has on Friday ruled "videography of the making and execution of a will is a useful piece of evidence.
The court observed: "If the execution of a will is videographed, it will help the court decide on its genuineness... The Delhi government should consider making it a practice in the sub-registrar's office so that when a person comes to register a will, the process has been videographed beforehand and that electronic file is kept on their hard disk and certified soft copies can be issued to all parties involved."
The Court has issued the order in connection with a will dispute involving a Delhi family. The son of a woman who died in 1985 had contested her will as she had disinherited him and bequeathed her properties to her grandson, his wife and their daughter.
The woman's will and its execution had been videographed and the grandson used the video as vital evidence in the case. The judge has settled the case in favour of the grandson.
