Agra:
A woman, said to be mentally disturbed, was found dead next to a skeleton in her house in Uttar Pradesh's Agra on Saturday, the police said. The skeleton is said to be that of the victim's mother who is believed to have died a few months ago, the police said.
Neighbours told the police that the 45-year-old victim, identified as Beena, was not seen for some days. After a foul smell started emitting from Beena's old house, they decided to force through the locked door. They discovered Beena's dead body on the floor, next to a skeleton and immediately, notified the police.
A police official Sunil Sharma said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and an inquiry has been ordered.
The incident is similar to Partha De, a man who used to live with the corpse of his sister in his 3, Robinson Street residence in Kolkata. Police, in 2015, had stumbled upon the maggot-infested skeletons of the sister, Debjani De, and two dogs while investigation the death of Arabinda De, the owner of the house whose burnt body was found inside a bathroom.
The dead, charred body of 45-year-old Partha De was also found in the bathroom of the apartment in which he had been living for the past few months. The police found a bottle of petrol and a matchbox next to his body and his death is being ruled as a suicide. De, who was being treated at the Pavlov Hospital for the mentally-ill, was discharged only recently.
