The body of a woman was found hanging from the wall of a private hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao on Saturday morning.

The parents have alleged that the woman was raped and then murdered. Police have registered a case on their complaint and named three people as accused, including the owner of the hospital.

Senior police officer Shashi Shekhar Singh said rape was not confirmed during post-mortem. He added that investigation is on and strict action will be taken in the matter.

"A woman's dead body was found at New Jeevan Hospital. To ascertain the circumstances of death, a post-mortem has been ordered. The family has alleged that the woman was raped and then killed. An FIR against three people has been filed," Mr Singh said earlier

The woman, reports say, was a nurse and it was her first day of work on Friday. She was found dead the following day. The hospital had opened just five days back, according to reports.

Videos showed people taking pictures as the body was hanging from the wall and the policemen went about deciding how to bring it down.

Unnao has seen some ghastly crimes against women over the past few years. In one such case, former BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar was sentenced to life imprisonment after he was convicted of raping a minor girl in 2017 and then getting her father assaulted, leading to his death.

In August 2019, a girl and her mother tried to immolate themselves at the office of Unnao's District Magistrate after no arrests were made following her allegation that she was gangraped. In December 2019, a 23-year-old woman died after she was set on fire by the men accused of raping her.
