Lucknow:
A woman in Uttar Pradesh has been gang-raped and hanged from a tree, says her family in the northern district of Baharaich, 130 kms from the state capital of Lucknow.
The woman's son says that she had recently complained to the police about the local liquor mafia.
Nobody has been arrested so far. Medical tests are being conducted to determine whether the charges of rape are correct.
Earlier this month, two girls, aged 14 and 15, were found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh after they were gang-raped in Badaun. The CBI is investigating that case, which made international headlines.
Some of the alleged rapists were from the Yadav caste; five people have been arrested.
The young girls were abducted and then attacked when they headed into the fields to relieve themselves.
Two policemen face accusations of being criminal accessories.
The families of the victims have said the police could have saved the girls, but claimed officers initially refused to help when they found out they were from a lower caste.
