Woman IPS officer suspended in Bihar on corruption charges

Patna: A woman officer from the 2006 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) has been suspended in Bihar over corruption charges. Anasuya Singh Sahu was put under suspension for corrupt behaviour, insubordination and for dereliction of duty.

Mobile phones of Ms Sahu, who was the Superintendent of Police in Sheikhpur, and her official bodyguard were reportedly kept under surveillance for several months. According to police sources, authorities have come across several conversations of the duo with the mafia. The conversations also allegedly involved influencing investigation in criminal cases in exchange of money.

While facing the probe, Ms Sahu had alleged in an interview to NDTV that Deputy General of Police Abhyanand has been targeting her for not following several of his illegal orders.
