New Delhi:
UPA troubleshooter Pranab Mukherjee's all party meeting on Monday remained inconclusive, with all parties presenting their stand and Mukherjee saying he would take their opinion to the Prime Minister.
Mukherjee also said he would call yet another meeting to discuss the issue further.
UPA partner Mamata Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress made clear at the meeting that she wanted the bill passed but it must have with a quota for minority women.
Mamata is meeting the three dissenting Yadavs - Mulayam, Lalu and Sharad - on the issue. The three leaders have said they will oppose the bill in its present form. They too want a quota for OBC and minority women included in the Bill, among other changes.
As leaders from all parties sat down to discuss the women's bill on Monday, Mulayam Yadav looked grim, BJP's Sushma Swaraj was smiling. An indication perhaps of how each felt about the topic at hand.
Mukherjee met floor leaders of all Opposition parties to discuss the bill, since there has been nonstop protest demanding an OBC and minorities quota within the bill since it was passed by the Rajya Sabha on March 9.
Mukherjee had assured that the opinion of all political parties would be considered. The bill is expected to come up soon after Lok Sabha resumes on April 15 for the second part of the Budget session.
