New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Sunday assured External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee that DMK will not precipitate a political crisis for UPA government.
Speaking on the Lankan issue, Pranab Mukherjee said that he and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have repeatedly told Sri Lanka that ethnic crisis can be solved only politically.
Pranab Mukherjee said that Tamil Nadu will send humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka.
UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has briefed TN Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on steps taken by the centre on the Lankan Tamils issue.
Karunanidhi had given ultimatum to the Centre that MPs from Tamil Nadu would resign if the state's demands are not met in the Lankan Tamils issue.
National Security Adviser M K Narayanan has also met the Lankan presidential adviser Basil Rajapakse in New Delhi. (With NDTV inputs)
