New Delhi:

Former Union minister Yashwant Sinha has quit from all party posts of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including that of vice-president, sources have told NDTV.

Meanwhile, NDTV has learnt that top BJP leaders are trying to convince Sinha, however, he is refusing to take their calls.

NDTV has exclusive access to a four-page letter that Yashwant Sinha has written to party president Rajnath Singh questioning post-poll decisions.

Yashwant Sinha has said that some people in the BJP do not want accountability to prevail and those who toiled in the field have not even been heard, sources said.

Yashwant has also questioned those responsible for management of campaign.

The former minister said that he is getting a sinking feeling that there is a conspiracy of silence, and that the party constitution has been violated in election of office bearers.

Meanwhile, stunned by the airing of grievances in public, party president Rajnath Singh issued some express orders to rein the dissenters while addressing mediapersons at the party headquarters.

He's also under pressure to take action against those who went public with their criticism like Jaswant Singh and Vinay Katiyar.

Jaswant Singh blamed the Hindutva campaign for BJP's loss while Vinay Katiyar went against the party's line on women's reservation.

On Friday, party leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy denied there was going to be any action against Jaswant Singh, but there are some sections that say it should be taken.

NDTV has exclusive access to this letter, wherein Sinha has said:

  • The BJP is putting a premium on failure
  • Those of us who toiled are not even being heard
  • Those who managed the campaign have given themselves a clean chit
  • Advani's offer to resign as Opposition Leader was appropriate
  • All officer bearers should resign to set an example
  • There is a rat race for posts
  • Our reluctance to introspect unacceptable to many in party
  • Some people are determined that the principle of accountability does not prevail
  • Our anxiety to distribute goodies amongst a few higher mortals
