Jaipur:
Rajasthan police have sent a request to the National Investigation Agency seeking to interrogate Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal in connection with the 2008 Jaipur serial blasts which had left 70 people dead and 186 injured.
"We are in touch with the NIA and have requested them for interrogation of Yasin Bhatkal in the Jaipur serial blasts case. Our team will go to Delhi when NIA asks us," ADG of Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad Alok Tripathi said.
A joint team of Bihar police and NIA had arrested Yasin Bhatkal and his associate Asadullah Akhtar from Nahar Chowk in Raxual along Indo-Nepal border, around 225 km from Bihar capital Patna, on Thursday.
"If required, he (Bhatkal) may be brought to Jaipur," Mr Tripathi said.
He said the blasts were carried out allegedly by Indian Mujahideen operatives on May 13, 2008 and interrogation of Bhatkal would prove to be vital in the case.
Of the total 11 accused, five had been arrested, while four others are absconding, he said.
Two other accused were killed in the Batla House encounter.
