Bangalore: Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa will have to wait for at least one more day to know if he can walk out of jail. He has been granted bail by a court in Bangalore in one of the two cases that has landed him in jail. But he cannot leave prison till he gets bail in both cases. The order on the second case will not be out today as the hearing has been adjourned till tomorrow.
He was arrested on October 15 for his alleged involvement in a scam that saw his family members getting prize land at throwaway prices while he was chief minister.
Mr Yeddyurappa was asked by his party, the BJP, to step down after a report on illegal mining indicted him. During his term in office, he was accused on multiple fronts of graft.
After his arrest, he was moved to two hospitals. Doctors who attended to him said he was fit to return to jail, leading to allegations that the politician was trying to avoid prison by complaining of chest pains.
