Jammu: The ceasefire violation by Pakistan continues. In the ninth such incident in the last five days, firing from across the border has been reported from the Hampirpur sector of Mendhar in Jammu and Kashmir.

There was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing from Pakistan, army sources said.

The violation comes a day after Pakistan National Assembly passed a resolution accusing the Indian military of "unprovoked aggression" at the Line of Control (LoC).

Tensions have flared in the Kashmir valley since last week, after Pakistani troops ambushed a patrol party of the Indian Army, killing five soldiers in the Poonch sector, 200 km south of Srinagar.

India expects incidents of ceasefire violation by Pakistan to increase in the next few months ahead of general elections and to coincide with a change at the top in the Pakistani Army.
