Hisar, Haryana: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today asserted that all kinds of obstacles can be overcome with the help of a determined mind and thoughts and said Yoga not only helps keep the body free of diseases, but also strengthens the mind and intellect.

"Therefore, it has become necessary to do Yoga in today's hectic and stressful life," Mr Khattar said addressing the gathering at the 'Yog Chikitsa Evam Dhyan Shivir' organised in collaboration with Yoga Guru Ramdev in Hisar.

Mr Khattar said that Yoga was our ancient discipline.

"It was re-established on an International level by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The United Nations has also declared June 21 as 'World Yoga Day'," he added.

He said that keeping in view the growing importance of Yoga, the State Government was placing special emphasis on the promotion of Yoga and Ayurveda.

"A new programme, namely, 'Yog Evam Vyayamshala' has been started and there is a plan to establish Yogshalas in all villages and cities of the State. This year, Yogshalas are being established in 1,050 villages in the first phase," he said.

Later speaking at another function, Mr Khattar while touching upon Yoga being our ancient discipline, said that "gradually we are forgetting the need and knowledge of spiritual quotient (SQ) in our lives for which India was known in the world and the foreigners had been visiting our ancient Universities Nalanda and Taxila for this divine education. In the present context the amalgamation of SQ with Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is need of the time".

Mr Khattar said, "the message of Vedas, Upanishads and Gita are for the whole mankind irrespective of creed, community or country. They have been the basis of our ancient education and India was known as Jagad Guru due to this spiritual knowledge".
