Yogi Adityanath is all set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh along with two Deputy Chief Ministers for a record second time. The cricket stadium where the mega event is underway is packed, sources say more than 85,000 are attending.

  1. Keshav Prasad Maurya, who lost the election, has been retained as deputy but Dinesh Sharma, who did not contest the assembly elections this time, has been replaced with Brajesh Pathak. Mr Pathak, Law Minister in Yogi Adityanath's first term, is a Brahmin strongman who won his second election from a seat in Lucknow.

  2. Hours before Yogi Adityanath's oath, many newly-elected MLAs and MLCs went to the Chief Minister's residence. The meeting triggered speculation about his new ministers.

Jitin Prasada, Satish Sharma, Brajesh Pathak, AK Sharma, Asim Arun, Dinesh Khatik, Arun Valmiki, Ashish Patel, Sanjay Nishad, Dayashankar Singh, Salil Vishnoi, Yogendra Upadhyaya, Kapil Dev Agrawal, Ravindra Jaiswal, and Baby Rani Maurya are among the Minister hopefuls who have already arrived. Sunil Bansal, Baldev Singh Aulakh, Sandeep Singh, BL Verma, Nitin Agarwal, Swatantra Dev Singh, Sanjeev Gaur, and Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary were other possible picks who were also seen at the Chief Minister's residence. 

  4. The BJP retained power in Uttar Pradesh by winning 255 out of 403 constituencies, securing a 41.29 per cent vote share. Yogi Adityanath, who led his party to a thumping victory, will be the first Chief Minister in the last 37 years to return to power after completing a full term in the state.

  5. He was on Thursday elected the head of the legislature party ahead of his swearing-in ceremony today. Shortly after being elected, he met Governor Anandiben Patel and staked a claim to form the government in the state.

  7. The oath ceremony of the Chief Minister and his cabinet will be held on Friday, which will be attended by PM Modi. Preparations are being made for thousands of guests, including senior party leaders, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states.

  8. Several Bollywood stars, including Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut and Boney Kapoor, have also received invitations for the mega swearing-in ceremony. The team of the recently released controversial Hindi movie "The Kashmir Files" has also been invited. Actor Anupam Kher and director Vivek Agnihotri are expected to attend.

  9. Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP Chief JP Nadda will also attend the mega event. All present and past BJP state Chief Ministers have been invited. 

  10. Around 85 thousand people will be attending the grand ceremony, news agency ANI reported quoting sources. A grand stage has been set up and posters have been put with slogans that read 'Naye Bharat ka Naya UP'(New UP of New India).

  11. The ceremony will be held at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow at 4 pm.
