The Maharashtra Police's Cyber Cell has summoned YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani and actor Rakhi Sawant, days after a row erupted of Mr. Allahbadia's controversial comments on Samay Raina's "India's Got Latent" show on YouTube.
While Mr Allahbadia and Mr. Chanchlani face summons for February 24, Ms Sawant has been summoned on February 27. The actor, model and reality television star was a guest on one of the episodes of the show.
Mr Chanchlani had earlier appeared before Khar police to record his statements.
Several FIRs were lodged against Mr Allahbadia, popularly known as Beer Biceps, for the comment on parents and sex on the YouTube show. Hearing the matter, the Supreme Court earlier this week granted protection to the podcaster from arrest and further FIRs. However, it came down strongly on him over his disregard for societal values, adding that it was the dirt in his mind that he "vomited out".
Along with Mr Allahbadia's plea, the top court also tagged Mr. Chanchlani's petition to quash or transfer to Mumbai an FIR registered in Guwahati in connection with a case of allegedly promoting obscenity in an online show. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh sought a response from Maharashtra and Assam governments. The Gauhati High Court Tuesday granted interim bail to Chanchlani while hearing his anticipatory bail petition and asked him to be present before the investigating officer within 10 days.
in the latest summons issued by the cyber cell, Samay Raina has been asked to appear at the earliest, no date has been specified.
