YSR's brother tries to slap MLA
New Delhi: A minister in Andhra Pradesh - the brother of the former Chief Minister YSR Reddy - tried to hit an MLA today in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

The minister, Vivekananda Reddy, was reportedly provoked because an MLA from the Opposition held up a placard that referred to the minister and his supporters as "YSR's Gang of Thieves."

YSR, one of Andhra's most popular leaders, died in a helicopter crash in September 2009, when he was Chief Minister.

His son, Jagan Mohan Reddy, has quit the Congress and formed his own party.

The politician targeted by Vivekananda Reddy is Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu from the Telugu Desam Party.  When Mr Reddy rushed towards Mr Naidu and raised his hand to strike him, other members of Mr Naidu's party rushed to his defence.

The Assembly was adjourned in the midst of the chaos.
