New Delhi: As many as 140 Indians involved in labour issues in Basra in Iraq are coming back tomorrow after intervention by the Indian embassy.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Syed Akbaruddin, tweeted,
There are several hundred Indians working in various fields in Iraq including steel mills, oil companies and construction projects.
According to the sources, "these Indians were facing issue of non-payment of salaries and after hectic efforts by the embassy officials... These workers did not come back initially as they wanted their salaries. Now, the amicable settlements have been worked out."
However, they did not disclose exactly what "settlements" have been made.
