Government established contacts with three Indian men stuck in Libya, said Sushma Swaraj.
New Delhi:
The government has established contacts with three Indian men who are stuck in war-torn Libya after they sought help, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Wednesday.
The men hailing from Punjab are in a place which is 899 kms from capital Tripoli.
"We have established contact with the three men from Punjab. They are 900 Kms away from Tripoli," Ms Swaraj tweeted. "As road journey is not safe, they have to be flown to Tripoli after obtaining exit Visas from Benghazi.
"I may inform that two of them were earlier evacuated at Government expense. However, they returned to Libya on 28.4.2016," Ms Swaraj said in a series of tweets.
Her intervention came after Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal requested Ms Swaraj to help them in returning to India.
"Requesting @SushmaSwaraj Ji to look into the matter of three men from Punjab stuck in Libya. They are seeking help to return to India," Mr Badal tweeted on Tuesday.
