London: An NRI businessman has been honoured with the Person of the Year award this year by a newspaper in London for his outstanding contributions to community welfare.
KT Mohammed Rabeeh Rabeeulla, managing director of the Jeddah-based Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group - a leading private healthcare provider in the Middle East, has been chosen for the award by London-based Asian Lite newspaper.
Mr Rabeeulla has previously won the 2013 Pravasi Bharatiya Award, the highest honour for the members of Indian diaspora.
"Dr Rabeeullah's philanthropic activities in the remote areas of Thailand is highly commendable," the jury said.
Mr Rabeeulla has donated $100,000 to villagers in Thailand to buy tractors and farm equipment to change their life.
The jury in a statement said Mr Rabeeullah is setting an example for business leaders to help their communities. The award will be presented to him in London on April 23, 2016.
