49-year-old Fotedar, an avid mountaineer, was on her maiden expedition to the world's highest peak when she was caught in the avalanche.

Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju today condoled the death of Kashmir-born mountaineer Renuka Fotedar at the base camp of Mount Everest after being caught in an avalanche triggered by an earthquake in Nepal last week.
"I am shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic incident which has snatched a bright and noble soul from us.
"I convey my deepest condolences to her family on her untimely death and pray to God to give them strength to bear this irreparable loss," he said in his condolence message.
49-year-old Fotedar, an avid mountaineer, was on her maiden expedition to the world's highest peak when she was caught in the avalanche.
Ms Fotedar, who hailed from Srinagar and was settled in Australia, was doing remarkable work in the field of behaviour science and holistic healing, an official release said.
Her body was flown from Kathmandu by her husband and she was cremated yesterday.
