Jaipur:
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has requested the Centre to grant visa to two family members of Pakistan's ailing Ghazal Singer Mehdi Hasan to accompany him for his treatment to India.
Mr Gehlot wrote a letter to the Foreign Minister SM Krishna on Wednesday about the same.
Mr Mehdi is undergoing treatment in Karachi for severe chest and urine infection and his family wants to bring him to India.
The Chief Minister had on April 25 written a letter to Mr Krishna requesting for visa for Mr Mehdi and his family members.
"After two days of writing the letter, Mr Gehlot was informed that apart from Mr Hasan, his son, daughter-in-law and one medical attendant had been provided medical visa as an exception for coming to India," a spokesperson from the Chief Minister's Office said.
"Now they require visa for two more people to look after him so the Chief Minister has again written a letter," he said.
Mr Gehlot received information about the serious condition of Mr Mehdi from his son. He also came to know about the requirement of the visa for two more people following which he requested the Foreign Minister for the same.
Mr Gehlot in his earlier letter had also said that the state government is ready to bear full expenses incurred for the treament of Mr Hasan, who was born in Loona village of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan.
