Apprehending an early election code of conduct to be announced later this month for the state assembly polls slated later this year, Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation announced to start a "trial run" of Metro train on September 18 inviting criticism from Opposition BJP for rushing the trial.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will flag off the train from Mansarovar Metro station at a special function on September 18, an official spokesman said on Sunday.
Chief Minister will also lay a foundation stone for underground corridor for metro from Chandpole to Bari Chaupar on the same day.
The train will pass through Metro stations of New Atish Market and Vivek Vihar, and would come to a halt at the outer area of Shyam Nagar.
After completion of other works at the site, the trial will be extended to Shyam Nagar, Ram Nagar and Civil lines later this year or early next year, the spokesman said.
