Jaipur:
In order to check the increasing number of cyber crimes, the Rajasthan police is planning to set up cyber police stations across the state and the first of such police stations is likely to come up in Jaipur.
Police authorities are chalking out modalities for setting up the first cyber police station at Jaipur. Later, this police station may take over the investigations of all cyber crimes from other police stations across the state.
Inspector General of Police, Jaipur range-1, BL Soni, told DNA, "We have solved many cyber crimes and even have managed to crack the whip on cyber criminals by arresting them for fooling people through fake internet lotteries. But not every police station has the expertise needed to solve such cases.
Thus, we had sent a proposal to the state police headquarters for an exclusive cyber police station in Jaipur."
Giving more details IG Soni said, "We have suggested that we should have a base police station in Jaipur with police officials having sound understanding of internet and information technology. It would also help us in solving the hoax bomb calls instantly."
According to the sources, the senior police officers, including the Director General of Police (DGP), Harish Chandra Meena, is interested in having an IT-enabled police station.
"It would also reduce the burden of the police stations. The state government has already given its nod to exclusive JDA (Jaipur Development Authority) police station to solve the property-related disputes, thus cyber police station should not be difficult to set up," said a senior police officer at the state police headquarters, who did not wish to be quoted.
An official with the home department said, "A final decision is yet to be taken by the government on this. Presently, the proposal is being scrutinised at the state police headquarters."
