Jaipur:
After successfully introducing 25 Volvo buses on the Delhi-Jaipur route, the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC), on Wednesday, flagged off a fleet of Volvo buses connecting Delhi with Jaisalmer via Jaipur.
The bus fare from Delhi to Jaipur is `600 and from Jaipur to Jaisalmer the fare has been set at `1,510. The bus will depart from Delhi at 5.30 pm, reach Jaipur at 12 midnight, Jodhpur by 6.30 am the next day and finally reach Jaisalmer by 11.30 am.
From Jaisalmer, the bus will depart at 5.30 pm and reach Jodhpur at 11.30 pm. The bus will reach Jaipur by 6.30 am next day and the journey will conclude in Delhi at 11.30 am.
Meanwhile, encouraged by the overwhelming response for its Jaipur-Delhi service, the state transport body plans to introduce Volvo buses on the Jaipur-Indore and Jaipur-Dehradun routes. The decision was taken considering the number of travellers and the frequency of trips to these cities from Jaipur.
There is high demand for running Volvo buses on the Jaipur-Indore route as latter is considered to be a 'mini Mumbai' and is important centre for business. Also, the bus will pass through important religious destinations, like Ujjain and Mahakaleshwar. "We have identified the Jaipur-Indore route because connects religious places," said Ghanshyam Gupta, RSRTC zonal manager (Deluxe).
