Jaipur:
District administration in Jaipur is planning to provide illegal liquor manufacturers in state mainstream employment opportunities for their livelihood. A plan proposed by the department seeks to train families engaged in manufacturing hooch as deed writers and stamp winders to assist in the administrative work.
Sources in the government informed that Jaipur collector has proposed to identify persons from the target families having a basic education to work as deed writers. "The Jaipur police have been asked to assist the administration in identifying such persons in the district," an official with the government told DNA. In addition, the administration will assist women members of the families to get better employment facilities if they are willing to give up manufacturing of illicit liquor.
The district administration has asked every superintendent of police in the city to identify 12 women who can be gainfully employed. They will be identified with the help of community policing, an official in the district administration said.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot had made a budgetary announcement to rehabilitate the families engaged in manufacturing illicit liquor. The government wanted to put brakes on the hooch tragedy deaths in state by rehabilitating the families engaged in the manufacture of illicit liquor.
On the other hand, the agriculture science centre in Bikaner has organised a programme to "brainwash" the families traditionally engaged in manufacturing illicit liquor to take up dairy farming. The members enrolled for the programme were educated on dairy farming and packaging milk products. After training, half-a-dozen of the participants have taken to dairy farming with the assistance of the centre, leaving their traditional source of employment, an official of the centre said.
