Jaipur:
A fire broke out at a branch of a bank at Mahua city of Dausa district today, destroying files, computers and several other items, police said.
However, the room and lockers of the Bank of Baroda remained unaffected as they were away from the place where the blaze broke out, they said adding that even the ATM counter was safe.
Fire tenders and local water tankers were used to douse the flames, police said.
Furniture, equipment, files, computers and curtains in the main hall of the two-level branch were destroyed, Manager of the bank Raj Kumar Meena, who has filed an FIR in this regard, said on telephone.
However, cash, strong room, lockers and ATM were safe, he said.
The fire broke out around 11 am probably due to short circuit in the main hall and no one was inside due to it being Sunday today, he said.
The exact loss would be estimated tomorrow, he said.
A guard was present outside the bank who probably informed bank officials and police, he added.
