Jaipur: Troubles for Sanjay Leela Bhansali in shooting his upcoming movie 'Padmavati' are far from. An erstwhile Jaipur royal family has come out in support of Rajput Karni Sena, which had opposed shooting of the film at Jaigarh fort near Jaipur alleging distortion of historical facts by the filmmaker.
The former royal family members, in a statement here, warned that anyone attempting to distort the heritage or the history would not be spared at any cost.
The family stood with Rajput Karni Sena and other such organisations, which protest on the pretext of keeping alive the rich and proud history of Rajasthan.
The statement stated that disciplinary actions were being taken against the erring officials of the department, set up by the former royals to take care of the shoots and to take necessary permissions in this regard.
"The department did not provide complete information to the erstwhile royal family about the film and gave the necessary permission to start the shoots," the royal family statement read.
Shooting for films, serials and advertisements take place quite frequently in several historic palaces owned by the former Jaipur royals on a regular basis.
The family stands committed to protect the proud history of Rajasthan, stressed the statement, adding anyone attempting to twist or change the history of Rajasthan would not be tolerated.
"In future, before any such shootings take place in the historic monuments of the royal family, the narration of the entire story will be thoroughly checked," the statement added.
On January 27, activists of Rajput Karni Sena protested, misbehaved and manhandled the crew of 'Padmavati'. They also damaged some cameras and other equipment. Mr Bhansali had to stop shooting.
