Jaipur: A government doctor was arrested on Monday for allegedly asking for bribe in the Jhalwar district, police said.
Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested Dr Chandrashekhar Vyas while he was accepting Rs 1,500 from a patient to perform an operation.
"Vyas of Jhalawar hospital was held by the ACB team for taking bribe from a patient for operation. He had demanded Rs 3,000 from a BPL (Below Poverty Line) patient to perform the operation," Inspector General-ACB Umesh Mishra said.
Dr Vyas had taken some amount in advance and was demanding the remaining sum before discharging the patient. After verification of the complaint
lodged by the patient's relative, a trap was laid and he (Dr Vyas) was held at a nursing home today, Mishra said.
