Gurjar protests: Recruitment process will not stop, says home minister

Jaipur: The agitation by the Gurjars could impact recruitment process in government departments in the state. The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) -which conducts entrance examinations and holds interviews for filling up posts announced by state government-talked with district collectors to assess law and order situation in wake of the stir by Gurjars for quota in government jobs.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal has made it clear that the recruitment process would not stop. Referring to second grade teachers' exams to be held on Wednesday, he said lakhs of youngsters would make their future better through these jobs. He added the government wanted a peaceful resolution of Gurjar issue.

The RPSC has kept a brave front till now. Despite Gurjars' call to hold back the recruitment process in state, the RPSC said that competitive exams for filling up vacancies in government departments will continue, for now.

Till Tuesday evening, the RPSC did not reschedule the examination for the selection of grade 2 schoolteachers in Hindi subject. More than 2 lakh applicants are expected to write the exams in state on December 22, Wednesday.

 The Commission proceeded with the exams for recruitment of grade 2 teachers in Sanskrit on Tuesday. RPSC officials hoped that the written tests for the aspirants of Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS), would be conducted on December 28, as scheduled.
RPSC chairman, ML Kumawat has appealed to Gurjars not to disrupt the examination process.

On the other hand, Bhainsla has warned that Gurjars could prevent the examination process for vacancies in different departments.
