Jaipur: An elephant today went berserk and killed its mahout in Natata village in the district, police here said.
The deceased was identified as Naeem, 22 years, the police said.
The furious elephant also damaged a wall and motorcycle in an open field at the village in Amber area, about 20 kms from here.
The incident occurred when the mahout (elephant trainer) was taking the elephant to a shady place from a scorching sun, when it went crazy and started running around at high speed, the police said.
In a frenzy the elephant flung the mahout Naeem into the open field.
Critically injured Naeem was rushed to the Sawai Man Singh hospital here, where he succumbed to his internal injuries, the police added.
After the incident the elephant was tied up with chains, the police said.
